Bus Crash On I-35 Frontage Road Leaves One Injured Save Email Print

(August 21, 2008)--A commercial bus carrying 37 people crashed into a vacant building near the Dallas Zoo overnight.

One person aboard was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas with a broken leg.

Officials say the bus belonged to Houston-based Transportes Los Nortenos and was heading to Columbus, Ohio, when it crashed Wednesday night on an Interstate 35E frontage road.

The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined, but the Dallas County Sheriff's Department said the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration gave the company a satisfactory safety rating after a compliance review last year, but a Transportes Los Nortenos bus headed from Columbus to Houston caught fire and burned Tuesday on the southern edge of Dallas.

No other injuries were reported.
