(August 29, 2008)—Milam County commissioners have voted to lift a ban on outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of the county.
Several other area counties have done the same thing this week.
McLennan County Commissioners voted Tuesday to lift a burn ban in the wake of a week of heavy rain.
Officials in Falls and Limestone County lifted bans on outdoor burning Monday after a week of record rainfall.
In Coryell County, the burn ban remains lifted, but officials say they will monitor conditions day to day.
Bell County commissioners, however, voted to reinstate a ban on outdoor burning effective at sunset Monday, effective for 30 days.
Bell County’s judge, however, was authorized to lift the ban for as much as 72 hours if conditions warrant.
Bans in Leon and Freestone County were lifted earlier this month.
