Woman’s Body Found In Suitcase Save Email Print

A | A | A

(September 2, 2008)—An 18-year-old Texas man was in custody Tuesday after a motorist found a suitcase in a wooded area in Harris County containing the body of his girlfriend’s mother.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the body of Maria Rodriguez, 55, was found Sunday morning.

The Houston Chronicle reported a man who was driving along a secluded private road discovered the body in a black suitcase in the woods.

Investigators later discovered Rodriguez had been reported missing by her husband Friday.

Gerson Funes-Reina was in the county jail Tuesday morning.

Authorities said the victim's daughter said she helped her boyfriend put the body in a suitcase and then dispose of it.

No charges had been filed against the 17-year-old by early Tuesday.

The cause of Rodriguez’ death was not immediately available.

The news showing about this broken family is about respect for life. Please show little respect for the people who pass trough difficult situations. Maybe our bodies will not be found in a suit cases later but, One thing for sure is that a casket is awating for each and every one of our bodies if, our bodies are found in one piece. The Bible said that we must seek HIM NOW (JESUS) that he can be found. The bible also said that every KNEE shall BOW. 2000 PIGS with a LEGION of Demons did NOT make it before JESUS. Be WISE and GOD Will bless you. Be STUPID and you will be in your OWN. At the End of your times you will need a LOT of help even if you (Maybe) CAN find the SAME devil and all of his host to give you a "Hand" AFTER ALL THINK ABOUT IT. JESUS IS NOT WHITE...HE IS BRIGHT. Jesus love US ALL. In other words Jesus Love you and I try my best. This is NOT about religion is all about the FACT OF LIFE. The lady is already gone. I am very sorry for Her Daugthar and her Boy friend.

It really says a lot about the daughter, helping her boyfriend dispose of her mother's body after killing her. How can someone do something like that. I saw the story on our local news and the husband was so distraught. This family will be in my prayers. This was a senseless crime. From what people were saying, this woman was a very kind and loving person. I don't know what I would do if something like this happened in my family.

I have a question....Unless I misread the article no where did it say that the murder was an illegal, so where are ya'll getting that he was??? Just because someone is a Mexican doesn't mean they are an illegal. There are a lot of people from different hertiages, like Mexican, who were born in America. Now if they were born here then that would make them a citizen. But all this really doesn't matter because a mother lost her life and my question is why??? What made this person or persons decide to kill her??? My prayers are with the family and friends, may God grant you peace and closure.

Geez, guys, how racist can you be? Just because they have a hispanic last name, does not mean they are illegal or from mexico. Good grief, a woman died, someone walking in the woods, on a secluded road, "finds" a suitcase? Look at how narrow minded you are, ummmm, why can't someone 'hanging out' in a secluded wooded remote area find the Anthony kid in Florida? Oh, I forgot, damn illegal mexican took that kid! Get a grip people!

Illegal aliens have shown a blatant disregard for our nation's laws by not going through proper channels to gain citizenship, so why should we expect that they'll be law-abiding while they remain here? Yet every time anyone comments that it's probably an illegal alien, when a crime is committed, it's turned into a racial attack against ALL hispanics. It is not.

Why hasn't the daughter been charged for helping stuff her murdered mother in a suitcase and disposing of her? Both are pathetic trash. Cram them in suitcases and throw them in the Rio Grande.

...And going back to the subject of this awful deed done...Regardless of where they are from it is a shame that someone could do this to their own mother. I hope this family can find some closure, and may these children learn from their mistake. Not necessarily to be freed from jail but so that they can ask Him for forgiveness. And shame on you people for arguing over something so small when there are so many awful things going on in this hateful world. Who do we have if we dont have eachother. Its not about waiting for the storm to stop but learning to dance in the rain. Godbless!

Some of us have thought about putting the dreaded mom-in-law in a suitcase, but never actually done it.

Perhaps if others spoke their minds rather than ignoring the issues, for fear of being labeled "racist", this country would not be in the mess it's in.

Me: i hope your next to be put in a suitcase. You are a poor excuse for a human being.
