Area Tax Appraisal Chief Resigns Save Email Print

A | A | A

(September 5, 2008)—The Coryell County Tax Appraisal District, which is in a dispute with county, city and school officials over operating funds, lost its chief appraiser Friday.

Chief Appraiser Jerry Hoge submitted his resignation Friday morning.

Meanwhile, the Coryell County Tax Appraisal Board was meeting Friday evening to hear complaints from Coryell County Attorney Brandon Belt, who says state law requires appraisal districts to return any surplus in operating funds to the entities that support it.

The Coryell County Appraisal District has been putting the money in a surplus fund, which has grown to about $200,000, and says the money is obligated toward future budgets.

It’s not clear whether the dispute figured into Hoge’s resignation.

The only people crooked in this town are the county officals. The property appraisals were correct according to the state, but in this county its all the "good ol boy system" and if you not a good ol boy your crooked. The people running this county are about as stupid as they come, Brandon Belt included. He doesn't have a clue about how an appraisal district should be run. Now when the state comes in and takes over they can really see how its going to be done. So good luck running them out of town you idiots.
