Texas Men Charged In Planned RNC Attack Save Email Print

A | A | A

(September 7, 2008)--Two Texas men are charged in what authorities say was a plan to target law enforcement officers during the Republican National Convention.

David Guy McKay, 22, and Bradley Neil Crowder, 23, are charged with one count of possession of firearms that were not registered to them.

The two Austin men were in custody Sunday, and a court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Minneapolis.

According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement officers overheard a conversation through electronic surveillance in which McKay said the Molotov cocktails he and Crowder made would be thrown at vehicles parked in a St. Paul lot used by law enforcement, and patrolled by U.S. Secret Service and the military.

McKay and Crowder allegedly belong to an organization known as the Austin Affinity Group.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Minnesota says FBI officials in Texas have been investigating the group since 2007.

Amen "LN" and to Jill you sound just like a 100% liberal bonehead, and your are right about one thing "same ol, same ol ' which i would relate to as our homeland security one of the most vital and key roles as far i as i am concerned for our country, and like LN said, when the dems took control they all stated they would bring fuel to a lower cost then what it was before it went on the rise, well i am still waiting on their promise, and to save the economy as stated by that drunk looking speaker of the house Ms. Pelosi, they have been in control almost 2 years now, when are they going to deliver??

Jill: Yes, only this died in the wool Republican is not that at all. I vote for the candidate based on their record and what they can do for the country. After looking at both candidates there is absolutely no option to vote for Obama. He has way to many unanswered questions about his past, his full financial support by George Soros and his extreme socialist ideals pretty much seal the deal for me. I do not want more government, more taxes, more gun control. These are all things that he has supported or espoused as the thing to do. And I really don't care to have European style government health care either. One look at their systems and economies should be enough to give ANYONE the ability to see that Obama is clearly not the choice. And by the way, this economy was doing pretty good until the Dems took control of Congress 18 months ago. And they pledged to get the price of gas down because it was $2.30/gallon. I paid $3.50 this weekend after it dropped. Yeah, they care?

I understand freedom of speech, but come on this anti-warism is getting out of hand. These guys went too far. I don't agree with some of Obamas issues and I don't agree with some of McCain's issues, but why go and try to hurt them? Neither delegate is worth fighting over as far as I can see.

Liberals are the largest radical group of anarchists in our country. The "change" they want is to overthrow established law resulting in chaos. Obama and Biden are two very liberal senators. What does this say about them and their followers?

Spoken like a true, died-in-the-wool Republican. Stick with McCain't and have the same ol' same ol'.

This type of story doesn't surprise me. While the protests at the DNC convention were mostly peaceful the radical left protesting at the RNC convention were out of hand and violent. They threw liquid, apparently some type of acid, on some delegates, burned trash cans and tore up police cars, among other things with hundreds arrested. They also tried to interupt McCains speech showing real class?!? Just generally acting like spoiled brats. And these are the liberal why can't we all just get along anti-war people who think violence is bad. I guess it only applies to people who agree with their Socialist ideals. People with differing viewpoints should be eliminated because they threaten them. And this is "change"? Well, it is change we don't need. There is good change and bad change. And Nobama and his party are the latter.
