(September 7, 2008)—The Waco Family YMCA was temporarily closed Sunday after the body of a 68-year-old man was found in the sauna just after 5 p.m.

The San Angelo man, whose name has not been released, was visiting Waco with his wife when he decided to go to the YMCA for an afternoon workout.

Police say the man had a history of health problems including diabetes, and had undergone five heart bypass surgeries and had three stints implanted.

Gym members spotted the man in the sauna but at first thought he was sleeping, it wasn't until a member tried to wake him that it was discovered that the man had passed away.

YMCA staff was immediately alerted to the situation.

Staff tried to revive the man using an automatic external deliberator with no success.

A short time later, the man was pronounced dead.

His body will not be sent for an autopsy, police say there are no signs of foul play.

The facility was closed Sunday evening, but was scheduled to open as usual Monday morning.

Hey ANONYMOUS - Do you KNOW he could spell better? Do YOU never make a typo? "WELL" do you? I guess WE'LL see. If making a spelling error makes me an idiot, I guess I'm in bad company.

Someone with diabetes shouldn't be in a sauna, it's not good for them. Most diabetics his age can't even sit outside during the summer in Texas because of the heat. The exercising is awesome though. I wish his doc had stressed to him to avoid extreme heat. It's really sad that after fighting so hard to live (thru all those surgeries) he had to go this way. My prayers are with his wife and family.

Just sayin... we'll I'm sure he knew how to spell better than you did. You're obviously the idiot. Your entire family must have a perfect health background to be critizing this man that you didn't even know if he wanted to EXERCISE at least he died trying to stay healthy.

five heart bypass surgeries, three stints and diabetes? And he was in a Gym, and the Sauna? I dont know whether this guy was a Role model or idiot. I mean its great that he felt he was well enough to exersize but at some point ya gotta admit your age/health might not let you do everything you want.
