(September 8, 2008)--Police looked for clues Monday about who placed a noose on the office chair of Abilene Christian University’s student body president last week.

Daniel Paul Watkins, a senior political science major from Fredericksburg, Va. who’s black, reported finding the noose on his chair Wednesday in the office that he uses as head of Abilene Christian University's Student Congress.

ACU President Royce Money says campus police are trying to determine whether the action constituted a hate crime.

No threat was left with the noose.

Blacks make up as much as 13 percent of a student body that numbers about 4,700.

Nooses are emblematic of racial tension in American history, evoking images of an era when blacks were lynched in this country.

We're basing them on facts... many of these incidents have been perpetrated by the supposed "victim."

I agree with E and Mother of Three. I do not judge people by the the color of their skin, I judge them by their behavior and/or demeanor. There is good and bad in all. However, I do feel that many blacks do more to hurt themselve than to help themselves. As stated in a previous post you must rise about it and make a difference for your self. All families, even mine have had that first person to get a college degree and so forth. Be that first person, make a difference. Everyone has the same opportunity as our government provides an education through the 12th grade. If you are already low income, you will have problems going to college, the government will pay for that too.
