Arrest Made In Murder Of Man Found Shot To Death In Backyard
A 27-year-old Central Texas man was in custody Friday, charged with murder in the shooting death of a man whose body was found in the backyard of his home.

(September 19, 2008)--Raheem Abdullah Watkins, 27, of Waco, was in custody Friday, charged with murder in the June 2 shooting death of Charles White, 44, of Waco.

Waco police arrested Watkins Thursday.

White was found shot to death in the backyard of his residence at 3601 Homan early in the morning of June 2.

Family members told officers White had gone outside to check on a fuse box because the power had gone out.

A short time later, family members said they heard several gunshots.

One family member saw a man running out of the backyard and get into a car that was parked in the alley behind the home.

Investigators recovered blood samples at the scene and submitted them to the Department of Public Safety for analysis.

On Monday, a DPS lab supervisor told investigators the samples had been matched to Watkins.

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday and officers arrested Watkins around 4:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Preston after a brief foot chase, police said Friday.

He was in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana at the time of the arrest, police said.

The family should know that senseless acts like this won't be forgotten. Mr. Charles White didn't deserve to die this way this creep just disrespected a life, because he's scum? This is completely unfair and I hope your family seeks justice for Mr. White.

What if the shoes where on the other foot.You don't wish bad on no one . Only God can Judge, I am sorry for the White's loss but if you look at it, its a loss for both families. Curt you are sick and all I can do is Pray for you cause you will cause major war with your prejudice self and I don't think you want that to happen. you all can't handle blacks like you use to back in slavery.
