Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested, Charged In Motorcyclist's Death Save Email Print

(October 9, 2008)—Round Rock police have arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

Tuesday evening charged a man suspected as having caused, then fled from, a collision on the night of September 25 in which motorcyclist Victor Luna was fatally injured.

Lyle Larue Earl, 25, of Round Rock was arrested and charged with Accident involving personal injury or death, a third-degree felony. Earl's bond was set at $50,000.

During the investigation, Round Rock Police sought the public's help to locate the car involved in the wreck and identify its driver.

Acting on an anonymous tip late Tuesday afternoon, detectives located the vehicle concealed in a garage about a mile from the wreck scene.

Police seized a white 2004 Chevrolet Impala that was locked in the garage. The car's right side had considerable damage that linked it to the wreck with Luna's motorcycle.

Earl was taken into custody and transferred to the Williamson County Jail late Tuesday night.

The case remains under investigation.

I am satisfied that this criminal has been caught. I wish, that he gets the most severe sentence. It may be a generational problem with younger drivers,I've witnessed. For a large percentage drive like they are playing a video game or are consumed doing something else rather than focusing on driving...not making any excuse for this guy. Too many riders know what I mean. Drivers cut off motorcycle riders or tailgate them in such a way that the driver of a vehicle can cause an accident. After learning of a recent accident this week in Austin of a SUV hitting a motorcycle policemen and knowing a few more accidents where a car hits a motorcycle policemen, I think it might be a worthwhile consideration if the Chiefs of Police accross Texas take a look into how they can "affect" these motorists who blatently disregard the motorcycle rider in causing accidents. Possibly double the fines and a more severe punishment to motorists who cause these wrecks would increase awareness on the road

I too am a rider and I hope this clown gets the needle. To hit and run and cost a man his life is murder and I hope the judge and jury are all riders. No excuses for what he did.

As a rider myself, I say if this idiot is guilty send him away for the rest of his life! There is no excuse for hitting a vehicle of any kind and running away, especially a motorcycle. The rider may have been saved from death if the car had stopped and called for an ambulance. This is just inexcusable. Like I always say, "When riding, you are a target on a shooting range....."
