(July 20, 2006)--A woman has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for taking part in a scheme that cheated Tarrant County out of $767,000.
Fifty-one-year-old Sabrina Burrus of Grandview was deputized as a county agent and cashed checks intended for tax, title and registration payments from auto dealers.
Investigators say she used the money for personal and business expenses in 2003.
Burrus pleaded guilty in March to theft of property valued between $100,000 and $200,00 by a public servant.
She operated two companies, S Company and Title Haven,that picked up local auto dealers' registration payments for Tarrant County.
