(November 23, 2008)—A fiery 18-wheeler crash Saturday night delayed the lighting of Texas A&M’s unofficial off-campus bonfire in Robertson County.

The 18-wheeler, which was carrying about 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel, overturned in a ditch and burst into flames around 6 p.m. on FM 1940, north of Franklin.

The driver reportedly escaped injury.

Because of the crash, the lighting on the bonfire was delayed until 9 p.m. Saturday.

The off-campus bonfire, which the university does not sanction, was the seventh since the deadly collapse of the on-campus log pile in 1999.

Um, where did you get your facts? The lighting was not delayed due to the wreck. In fact, it was lit pretty much the same time it always has been. And why even mention Bonfire in a report on a truck wreck that happened several miles away and had NOTHING to do with Bonfire? It's reports like this, regardless of the subject, that make people draw unfounded conclusions. To be clear: THAT TRUCK HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BONFIRE AND WAS NOT GOING TO NOR LEAVING FROM THE SITE.
