(February 6, 2012)-Some residents of Bell and McLennan Counties will benefit from a $3,6 million water system improvement project.
The Texas Water Development Board approved the $3.6 million loan from the Rural Water Assistance Fund to the Bluebonnet Water Supply Corporation, which serves Bell and McLennan Counties, to replace deteriorated water lines.
"The Bluebonnet Water Supply Corporation's transmission main that runs from its treatment plant to the Moody pump station has experienced numerous failures over the last 10 years," the TWDB said.
The funds will make it possible to install 21,200 feet of transmission line along the east side of Highway 317, providing cleaner water to area residents.
According to the water development board, Bluebonnet Water Supply Corporation is a wholesale water provider that contracts with Moffatt Water Supply Corporation, Pendleton Water Supply Corporation, Elm Creek Water Supply Corporation, Spring Valley Water Supply Corporation and the cities of Moody, Bruceville-Eddy, McGregor and Woodway.
TWDB is the state agency responsible for collecting water-related data and preparing the State Water Plan according to various water resources across the state.
The project is expected to begin later this year.
