(September 14, 2006)—Compassion Ministries and the Waco Community Development Corporation kick off a remodeling project Friday aimed at making the dream of home ownership come true for a local family.

The Milestone House, at 811 N. 3rd St. in Waco, will be sold to a local couple for $45,000 after the $75,000 remodeling project is completed.

“Too often, families that are able pull themselves out of homelessness into a rental situation will never reach the milestone of owning their home, Said Mike Stone of the Waco CDC.

“The Milestone House puts the dream of owning their own home within reach for a family that graduates from Compassion Ministries. We are going to take an old house and do an “extreme make-over” and make the house affordable to a family who graduated from Compassion Ministry,” he said.

“This means that the family can reach the milestone of owning a home and the old house can be put to use again raising another family,” he said.
