BELL COUNTY (March 03, 2009)-Fire investigators will sift through ashes Tuesday to determine what started a fast-moving late-night fire that destroyed a mobile home and utility shed in southeastern Bell County.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the fire on FM 1123, just north of Holland around 11:00 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found both a mobile home and a shed engulfed in flames while fire was quickly spreading to the surrounding yard.

Using brush trucks, firefighters were able to contain the fire before it could blaze into a large grassfire.

The house and shed however burned to the ground.

While the cause of the fire hasn’t officially been determined, the Bell County Fire Marshal’s Office is labeling the fire as suspicious, citing the house was vacant without electrical service.

Monday night’s fire occurred near the area where 400 acres of land was reduced to scorched earth in a large grassfire last week.

I agree that it may be possible that we have an arsonist on our hands or someone that's not very bright in realizing that there is a burn ban, and that firefighters aren't supposed to deal with stupidity from people. They are out there to save lives and dedicate their services to protect the lives and houses, etc from those very ignornant and stupid people who just want to set things on fire. Please people think before you flick out your cigarettes out the window of the car, or just letting them go on the side of the road or any other situation for that matter. Put the cigarette out for that matter! I realize that it may not be due to cigarettes but usually most are. Well, I hope they find out soon what happened and my thoughts are with the family on losing their home.
