PORT BOLIVAR, Texas (March 3, 2009)--AP) - A crew that was cleaning up debris nearly six months after Hurricane Ike struck checked a pasture and found a casket containing a man’s body.

The Galveston County Sheriff's Office says the casket evidently washed out of Port Bolivar Community Cemetery.

The Galveston County Daily News reported Tuesday that the medical examiner's office is trying to identify the man or the gravesite where the casket had been.

Spokesman John Florence said the race and age of the man, who was wearing a hospital wristband, are not known.

The casket was discovered Saturday afternoon.

Ike swamped parts of Southeast Texas on Sept. 13.
