Former City Secretary Charged With Theft Over $20,000
The former city secretary of a small Central Texas town where $37,000 turned up missing was charged with theft over $20,000 Wednesday.

GROESBECK (April 1, 2009)--The former city secretary of the Limestone County community of Coolidge was free on bond Wednesday after she was charged on with theft over $20,000.
Limestone County Chief Deputy R. T. Beck said former Coolidge City Secretary Angie Allcorn turned herself in at around noon on Wednesday.
Beck said she posted a $15,000 bond shortly after, and was released just after 2 p.m.
Allcorn resigned on Feb.13, 2009 and also stepped down from her position on the Coolidge School Board.
Her arrest came after an audit of city funds showed that $37,000 was missing from a City Hall account.
According to information that News 10 obtained through an open records request, from October 2007 to January 2009, the city received $634,933.82 in utility payments, but only $597,717.41 was deposited.
The city acts as a collection agent for TXU Energy and Windstream telephone.
The city's auditor, Kendall Stone, discovered the discrepancy in January 2009 while looking over the city's records.
The discovery led to an investigation, the results of which were been turned over to the Limestone County District Attorney's Office.

WELL THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN COOLIDGE.ALMOST 20 YEARS AGO THERE WAS A LADY NAMED CINDY THAT STOLE FROM OUR CITY/SCHOOL AND THEY BRUSHED IT UNDER THE CARPET AND THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE LET HER OFF SCOTT FREE!! TO THIS DAY I DONT KNOW WHY!MAYBE ANGIE WASNT AS LUCKY AS CINDY.

They need to do more looking back than just two years, maybe five or ten, however long she has been there. Need to check into the people who were paid from the city and didn't really work but drew a paycheck ( her husband) maybe the Mayor paid off some of his rent houses with the city blank checks, Angie said he often took with him.
