(December 15, 2006)--A festive night took a tragic turn in the town of Mildred near Corsicana.
Officials say a Corsicana woman was struck and killed Thursday night as she tried to cross a highway on her way to her granddaughter's elementary school Christmas program.
A truck struck fifty-three-year-old Alcyone King Hutchins in front of Mildred Elementary School.
A second truck then struck her.
She died at the scene.
The Corsicana Daily Sun reports that Hutchins had parked in a church parking lot across the street from the school.
School officials went ahead with the program, which started about 15 minutes after the accident, and notified the audience at the program's conclusion.
The Department of Public Safety says neither driver was cited but the case will be handed over to a grand jury, as is standard procedure.
