(February 20, 2007)— Maria DelJesus Hall, 52, died Monday in Killeen when a Ford Mustang driven by a 19-year-old Fort Hood soldier veered across the median of US Highway 190 and struck her Mazda Protégé.

Killeen police released her name Tuesday.

Police said the soldier steered into the median in an attempt to avoid a collision with another vehicle that had pulled into his lane, police said.

A male passenger in the Mazda was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with injuries police said were not life threatening.

The Mustang also struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said.

The 22-year-old woman driving the Trailblazer and the 19-year-old soldier and his passenger all escaped injury, police said.
