COPPERAS COVE -- Golden Apple Award winner B. Neely is a first grade teacher at Hettie Halstead Elementary School in Copperas Cove.
Ms. Neely wanted to be a teacher ever since she was a child and enjoys having a job that's like being a mother.
She says seeing the excitement on a child's face after learning to read teaching is the best part of her job.
Marcie Jones and her son Spencer nominated Ms. Neely because she it easier for Spencer and other kids to cope with having a parent deployed overseas. Spencer says Ms. Neely was always there for him when he needed it.

This teacher is very deserving. She is also my daughter's teacher. I guess I should have known how special she was when at Meet The Teacher Night she gave the parent's her cell phone number and told us to call anytime for anything we needed. I also want to thank you for being here for my family while my husband is deployed. It means a lot knowing I can call you if I need. Thank you for going above and beyond and always doing it with a smile. God Bless you and Keep smiling!
