(March 16, 2007)—Another court hearing was underway Friday in the continuing saga over the late star-crossed celebrity Anna Nicole Smith.
The hearing in Bahamas is in the tussle over who gets custody of Smith's baby daughter, Dannielynn.
Several people claim to be the father.
Lawyers for one of them, ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, are asking for a DNA test.
Birkhead, who says he's been putting a nursery together in California, plans to be there.
Another contender, Smith's longtime companion Howard K. Stern, probably won't be.
He remains in seclusion with the baby at Smith's seaside villa in the Bahamas.
Smith's estranged mother, Virgie Arthur, also wants custody.
Depending on how an inheritance case pans out, the baby could one day be worth millions.
Smith and her daughter have been at the center of legal battles since the death of the one-time Mexia resident on Feb. 8 in her hotel room in Florida.
The cause of death has not been revealed.
An announcement was delayed for several weeks after the discovery of what officials described as new evidence in the hotel room.
