(October 22, 2009)—The sky was clearing from west to east across Central Texas Thursday as a cold front pushed a large area of showers out of the region, but runoff from heavy rain overnight could cause flooding problems in some areas throughout the day.

Mostly sunny conditions are expected later in the day along with cooler temperatures and gusty winds.

Lows tonight will be in the upper 40s.

A flash flood watch that was in effect for much of the region was canceled late Thursday morning, but some local flood warnings remained in effect.

Gatesville Police said Thursday morning the Leon River was rising out of its banks.

Gatesville PD also said Faunt Le Roy Park and Brown Park, which both border the Leon River, were closed because of the cresting river.
