Elderly Woman Fights Off Attacker In Her Home
An elderly Central Texas woman woke up to an intruder in her home but fought off the suspect without injury.

(October 24, 2009) - An elderly Leon County woman was able to escape her home unharmed, but a robber made off with several valuable possessions and cash.
The 80-year-old victim woke up just before 5 a.m. Saturday, to find a man in her bedroom in her home in Centerville off of Cass Street.
She was able to grab her handgun.
The suspect grabbed the woman but she was able to escape to outside where she fired shots to alert neighbors.
The robber made off with several firearms, valuable items and cash before Leon County sheriff's deputies arrived.
This was the eighth report of such a home invasion.
Five elderly Central Texas women and two others in South Texas have been targeted in similar attacks involving robbery and sexual assault.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that all eight attacks are linked.
There have been two reports in Bell County, one in Falls, two in Lavaca, and three in Leon Counties since the start of 2009.
DNA evidence from two assaults in Leon County has been linked to an attack in Lavaca County.
In Milam County, where no such attacks have been reported, authorities held a town hall meeting Saturday for residents concerned about the incidents.
