WACO (October 26, 2009)—Lawrence Torres, 25, of Waco and his brother Jerry Torres, 31, of Bellmead died in a late night crash Sunday at the intersection of North 27th Street and West Waco Drive.
Lawrence Torres was driving north on North 27th Street at about 10:40 p.m. Sunday in a half-ton pickup truck when police said he failed to yield the right of way to an eastbound three-quarter ton pickup truck.
The eastbound truck, driven by Lucio Ruiz, 23, of Hewitt, hit the truck in which the Torres brothers were riding on the driver’s side door.
Lawrence Torres died at the scene.
His brother died en route to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.
McLennan County Justice of the Peace Billy Martin ordered autopsies.
Ruiz was taken to Hillcrest with what police said were incapacitating injuries.

I agree with Adolf Schmidt. Being a block away from the accident and hearing the impact there were no brakes used by the driver which was driving the white truck that had hit the Torres men. The damage done to the Torres truck was that of a truck that was going "ONLY" 40 mile an hour? Anyone who seen the accident knows the other person had to be going over 40. No more peoples lives need to be cut short because people don't know how 2 obey the speed limit signs. There is nothing worse than to walk up on an accident trying to help someone and see they are life less....words can't describe! Please do something about the speeding
what does someone say at a time like this..Trish i am so sorry for what you must be going through right now.My prayers are for you. God Bless you and love you girl....
