BASTROP (November 23, 2009)--Two inmates with drug-related convictions who fled from a federal prison facility about 30 miles southeast of Austin remained at large Monday.

Leandro Luna, 52, of San Angelo and Adan Chavez, 53, of Edinburg, escaped from the Federal Correctional Institution in Bastrop.

They were discovered missing Friday from a low-security area of the prison.

Luna has been in prison since 2006, serving a decade-long term for importing marijuana.

Prison officials believe he was spotted Friday night in Austin, where he has family.

Chavez has been imprisoned since 1990, serving a 30-year sentence for cocaine and weapon convictions.

i agree with doesntmatter, id rather have them legalized weed and make alcohol illegal!! how many accidents have you ever heard of where the cause was someone was under the influence of marijuana? never, and how many drunk driving accidents do you hear of everyday? and i dont care what people say, it is not a gateway drug, i know people that never smoked it before and went straight to the hardcore drugs. YOU make the choice as the weather or not you want to do other drugs. whens the last time you heard a women say "my husband/boyfriend came home high and beat me up" ? never, can't say that about drinkers. everyone does it, might as well legalized it. one MAJOR drug that would put alot of people out of business if they legalized it. cause you would have special shops to get it at. now i still feel that if you are driving under the influence, you will get busted or giving it to people under age or doing it on the job. call me crazy but this isnt 1990s any more....

you may not know anyone who has died from smoking marjuana, but believe me there are people dieing from using it due to the complications,, like not being able to pass a drug test to get a job, which causes financial problems, which causes family violence, anger, kids have to hear mom and dad fighting, etc etc etc.. use your brain or keep your comments to yourself.. I wouldn't want any of my children to read your comments.
