WACO (November 27, 2009)—A speeding pick up truck hit a parked car early Friday morning, careened through a yard and struck a parked pick up truck, injuring the two occupants in the parked truck.

Police were called to 20th and Morrow just after 2:30 a.m. where they found a white pick up truck resting against another truck that had been parked on the street.

Officers said the driver of the white truck fled the scene before they arrived, but the two occupants of the other truck were injured and had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers say they believe the white truck first struck a maroon car – that also was parked but unoccupied – and then ran through a fence in the front yard of a home, hit and destroyed a fire hydrant and a mail box, then over turned and eventually crashed into a brown pick up.

The two injured people were sitting in the brown truck when the crash happened.

It is not clear how many people were in the white Dodge truck but police were searching for the driver Friday morning.

An initial report, though still unconfirmed, indicated the white Dodge belongs to a Waco man who told police his son had taken the truck and a firearm and left his home sometime before the accident happened.
