HARKER HEIGHTS (November 30, 2009)—The fire that gutted the Texas BBQ Grill and Crab Shack in the 100 block of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Harker Heights reignited Monday morning and firefighters were back on the scene dousing the flames.
The portion of the restaurant where the roof collapsed in the fire rekindled, firefighters said.
Firefighters Harker Heights and Killeen responded just before midnight Sunday to the fire that gutted the restaurant and damaged an electronics store next door.
Smoke and flames were visible from the roof and the windows of the structure.
Just minutes after firefighters were on scene they pulled out of the structure and began a defensive attack, fighting the fire from outside of the building.
The fire was under control around 12:30 a.m. Monday
There were no injuries reported, but the adjacent electronics store did suffer from some smoke and fire damage.
The estimated damage to the structure is around $150,000, the Harker Heights Fire Department said in a press release Monday.
The Harker Heights Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
