JOHNSON COUNTY (December 26, 2009)—Three men were in the Johnson County Jail Monday after what authorities say was a weekend drug deal turned violent.

The Johnson County Sheriff’ Office said it received a series of 911 calls Sunday night from a rural area near Godley about a disturbance involving weapons.

At first it appeared there had been a home invasion, but as deputies sorted through the details, they determined that a man who was in the middle of a drug deal was attacked by two other men who used an unspecified wooden object to beat him in the head, authorities said Monday.

After a shot was fired over his head, the first man wrestled the gun away from his two attackers and fled, authorities said Monday.

He later knocked on the door of a home in the area and when residents answered, rushed inside and collapsed on the kitchen floor, bleeding heavily, authorities said.

Another resident had reported hearing someone in the middle of a large field yelling, "help me, help me" repeatedly and said when he went to check, that four or five shots were fired in his direction.

Johnson County deputies arrested Quintin Mitchell Knox, 31, who was booked into jail after receiving medical treatment.

He’s charged with deadly conduct and additional charges are possible, authorities said.

His bond was set at $150,000.

Deputies also arrested Franklin Scottydale Spencer, 19, and Scott McDonnell Spencer, 44.

The younger Spencer was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and his bond was set at $150,000.

Scott Spencer was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

His bonds total $175,000.

It's hard to find sympathy for a drug dealer and a couple of thieves. If you play with fire, or in this case drugs, sooner or later you will get burned. When will people learn?
