Gatesville: Police Raid Local Game Room

GATESVILLE (February 13, 2012)—Gatesville police raided the Lonestar Game Room just after midnight Saturday morning in the 400 block of North Highway 36, closing down the business and seizing cash after officers determined that winners were receiving cash prizes, authorities said Monday.

Officers seized cash and equipment and later returned with a search warrant and seized computers and gambling paraphernalia, police said Monday.

Gatesville police and the Department of Public Safety have been investigating the game room since May 2011, police said.

On several occasions, investigators “entered the business, and after playing the machines, left with cash money,” Gatesville police said in a press release Monday.

The business was notified of the violations and was asked to halt operations until it could demonstrate it was operating legally, police said.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation continues, police said Monday.
