North Texas Officer Arrested for DWI

FORT WORTH (April 15, 2011)—Haltom City police have arrested a Fort Worth police officer and charged him with driving while intoxicated.

Haltom City police spotted Officer James Howze, 29, driving erratically on Northeast Loop 820.

Howze has been placed on restricted duty, which means he can’t carry his badge or gun, pending the outcome of an internal investigation, according to a news release.

Sgt. Eric Peters, a spokesman for Haltom City police, said Howze was pulled over about 2:15 a.m. after an officer spotted him drifting to the freeway's outside shoulder, then correcting back to the left.

Howze was pulled over and at once consented to a field sobriety test and to a blood draw.

He was booked into jail and released after posting bail.
