Three Found Dead After Standoff At RV Park

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (February 10, 2012)--Three people were dead and two others were critically injured after a hostage standoff at a quiet Florida recreational vehicle park, authorities said.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said William De Jesus, 41, shot and killed Ovila Plante, 76, late Thursday outside the older man's RV at Highland Woods RV Park in Deerfield Beach.

De Jesus then barricaded himself inside the RV with his family and the dead man's girlfriend, who eventually escaped.

After a seven-hour standoff, a SWAT team entered the RV early Friday and found De Jesus and his 9-year-old son dead.

De Jesus' wife and 7-year-old son suffered stab wounds.

Authorities didn't immediately have a motive for the attack.

The De Jesus family was from central Florida.

Plante and his girlfriend were on vacation from Quebec, Canada.
