RALEIGH, N.C. (August 26, 2013)--Charles and Daneen Stiefel of Raleigh, N.C., have pledged $10 million to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where Charles Daneen was treated for cancer starting in 2007.
He credits the center and its staff with saving his life.
Charles Stiefel is the former chairman and CEO of Stiefel Laboratories, a dermatology company that moved its research headquarters to Research Triangle Park in 2006 before it was bought by GlaxoSmithKline in 2009 for $2.9 billion.
The head and neck cancer center at MD Anderson will be renamed for Charles and Daneen Stiefel, who also donated $1 million to the medical center in 2009.
