QUINCY, Mass. (April 25, 2014) Firefighters in Quincy, Mass., south of Boston, leaped into action early Friday when a cab driver knocked on the door of their station and told them his passenger was having a baby.
And the firefighters not only delivered the baby girl on the sidewalk at 1:30 a.m. Friday, but also saved the newborn’s life.
The delivery was already underway when the firefighters reached the cab, Lt. Shawn Darcy said.
They completed the delivery but found that the baby wasn't breathing, so they cleared her airways and she finally started to cry, he said.
Mother and daughter were taken by ambulance to a hospital where both were reported to be doing well.
