ABUJA, Nigeria (August 6, 2014) A nurse has died of Ebola in Nigeria, where five additional cases of the deadly disease have been confirmed, the country’s health minister says.
All of the Ebola patients are being treated in isolation in Lagos, sub-Saharan Africa's largest city with 21 million people, the official said.
The nurse had treated a man who traveled from Liberia and died of Ebola last month in Lagos, he said.
The five others confirmed to have Ebola are believed to be health workers who treated Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer who was sick when he flew into Lagos and died days later on July 25.
