Results Disappointing In Brain Injury Treatment Study

CHICAGO (November 20, 2012)--Researchers report that a supplement sold as a memory booster and used overseas as a medical treatment didn't work in adults with traumatic brain injuries.

The supplement is called citicoline and scientists and the U.S. military had considered it a potentially promising treatment.

But patients who got the supplement fared no better than those given dummy treatments.

Details of the study were in Wednesday's issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
