McALLEN (March 20, 2014) McAllen spa owner Elva Navarro, 37, was in federal custody Thursday, accused of violating U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations by injecting beauty customers with unapproved substances such as silicone.
Navarro, who ran Bella Face and Body Spa in McAllen, was arrested Wednesday after she was indicted for receiving an adulterated device and misbranding a device.
She’s accused of injecting liquid silicone into customers and falsely claiming the process was safe.
One of her clients spent more than two weeks in the hospital in 2012 receiving such injections, authorities said.
