West Nile Virus Claims 4th Life In Central Texas

A fourth person has died from West Nile virus in Central Texas, health officials said Friday.

(October 26, 2012)—West Nile virus has claimed the life of a second person in McLennan County, the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District reported Friday.

The victim, who was not identified, was an 82-year-old woman who lived in the 76707 Zip Code in Waco, health officials said.

A man in his 80s died earlier in McLennan County and two deaths have been reported from West Nile in Bell County.

No new cases of the virus have been reported in McLennan County since Oct. 2, health officials said Friday, and the total number of cases stands at 45.

Bell County reports a total of 11 cases and two deaths.

Coryell County has reported two cases, Freestone one, Hill two, Limestone four, Milam one, Navarro eight and Robertson three, according to the Department of State Health Services website.
