WACO (January 6, 2014) Police have made an arrested after a December hit-and-run crash in Waco claimed the life of a local woman.

Waco Police said Monday that 39-year-old Bruce Donnell Wilkinson, Sr. of Marlin had been arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid, a second degree felony.

Norma Alicia Valdez, 51, of Waco, died in the hit-and-run accident on Dec. 8 as she drove home from a friend’s house.

Police were looking for a red or maroon Dodge Magnum with a blue-colored decorative light in the front grill whose driver didn’t stop after the accident on the Waco Drive bridge across the Brazos River.

Tips from residents led to the recovery of the vehicle, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Tuesday.

“The vehicle has been impounded and is being processed for evidence,” he said.

Valdez had lived in Waco for more than 20 years and for more than eight of them had worked at Rosa’s Cafe, but most of her family is in Mexico, relatives said.
