WACO (July 19, 2012)—A Waco woman was being held Thursday in the McLennan County Jail charged with aggravated assault charge in an incident in which her boyfriend was run down during a domestic dispute.
Nakecha Dehaka Woodard, 27, was ordered held on a $10,000 bond charged with aggravated assault family violence and also was being held on an unpaid traffic warrant and a previous theft charge.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Woodard was taken into custody Wednesday after police obtained a warrant for her on the aggravated assault charge.
Swanton said Woodward was wanted in a June 25 incident during which Donald Brooks was injured when he was struck by an SUV in the 2700 block of Woodrow Avenue.
At the time of the incident police at the scene said the driver of the SUV had intentionally run Brooks down, then left the scene.
Police said Brooks was thrown into the air and hit the windshield when the Ford Explorer struck him.
Witnesses at the scene told officers a woman sped down Woodrow, saw the man, made a U-turn and returned to run him down, police said.
Brooks, 29, suffered multiple lacerations and abrasions and a head injury, Swanton said.
Hospital records indicate Brooks was treated that day and released.
