BUCKHOLTS (August 10, 2012)--The police chief of the Milam County City of Buckholts has been fired.

Chief James Blackmon was arrested in July after questions arose regarding the number of full-time officers listed on the city's police roster.

Buckholts City Council voted to fire Chief Blackmon Thursday night.

He was charged with tampering with government records following an investigation by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.

Following that investigation, the city launched its own internal affairs investigation.

He will be paid up until Sept. 7.
