COPPERAS COVE (December 28, 2012) --- Almost $3,500 in damages and stolen property were reported to police by Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce employees just after 8 a.m. Thursday.

Employees returning from Christmas break discovered a back window had been broken out and an iPad Mini, cash from the safe, and thirty-five $25 prepaid American Express gift cards missing from the building at 204 Robertson Avenue.

President of the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce Betty Price said the gift cards were very unique because they were part of a promotion aimed at getting people to shop at local, small businesses in the area.

"The cards say 'Shop Small,' on them and we are asking anyone who sees someone trying to use multiple cards like this to call the police," Price said.

Price said the chamber is working with American Express to get the cards cancelled and are also working with the Copperas Cove Police Department to find a suspect in the break-in.

The iPad mini was going to be used during an upcoming raffle for during the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce banquet.

Price said the chamber is working to get the iPad replaced.

Anyone with information about the break-in should call Copperas Cove Crime Stoppers at (254) 547-1111.

Tips can be made anonymously and may earn cash rewards if they lead to an arrest.
