WACO (April 16, 2013)—A McLennan County man was being held Tuesday in the McLennan County Jail charged in connection with an April 12 shooting in Bellmead.
Edward Victor Ortiz, 31, was ordered held on bonds totaling $76,000, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a dangerous drug.
Waco police arrested Ortiz on the drug charge on Sunday and he also was charged on a warrant in the shooting incident, during which no one was injured.
Bellmead police say they were called to an address in the 500 block of Maxfield Drive after a report of shots fired.
Police were able to determine that a man who had been at that address earlier in the day was asked to leave and
As the man was leaving, he pulled out a handgun and fired it in the direction of several people who had gathered outside the home.
A warrant was issued for Ortiz later in the day and on Sunday he was arrested in Waco.
