KILLEEN (June 21, 2013)—A Killeen man was set to plead guilty Friday to the 2011 shooting murder of his neighbor.
The Bell County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Friday morning that Juston Cole Fletcher, 23, was set to appear at 1:30 p.m. in 426th District Court where he was expected to plead guilty to the May 23, 2011 death of Anthony Duane Paxson, who also was 23.
Paxson was shot during a domestic disturbance outside a Killeen apartment complex.
Fletcher has been out of jail since shortly after his arrest when he posted bond and was released from the Bell County Jail.
Killeen police say Fletcher became involved in a domestic disturbance between Paxson and his wife outside an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Wales Dr., in Killeen, and Fletcher is accused of shooting Paxson in the chest with a rifle.
An arrest affidavit shows Paxson and his wife both had been drinking before the incident.
Investigators say Fletcher came out of his apartment and demanded the Paxson's be quiet.
The confrontation resulted in Paxson and Fletcher starting to shove each other.
Police say Fletcher went back into his apartment and came out with a rifle.
Paxson's wife told police Fletcher fired one shot from the rifle that struck her husband in the chest.
