WACO (July 25, 2013)—A Chilton resident was indicted Wednesday by the McLennan County Grand Jury on a charge of murder.

Juan Francisco Segovia, 25, whose hometown is Zacatecas, Mexico, was charged in connection with the stabbing death of Anthony Levell Degrate, 24, of Waco, who died in a local hospital after he was stabbed several times in the upper body following the early-morning argument on Oct. 14, 2012 outside Club Alazan at 6512 West Waco Drive.

Segovia was ordered held in the McLennan County Jail on a $250,000 bond on the murder charge and without bond on a federal immigration detainer.

Segovia was arrested near Bowie, in Montague County, after the East Texas U.S. Marshal's Task Force found him hiding out in a motel and arrested him on the Waco police warrant.

Police said an argument started in the parking lot between Degrate, who was a passenger in one vehicle, and a man who was riding in a second vehicle.

The two vehicles pulled out of the parking lot and onto the Highway 84 access road where they both stopped at a red light.

While they were stopped, a man got out of the second vehicle and approached the vehicle in which Degrate was riding.

Degrate got out and the two men began to fight, police said.

After Degrate was stabbed, the other man ran back to his vehicle and fled, police said.

Officers found Degrate lying in the road in the 6400 block of West Waco Drive.

Club Alazan has since closed its doors.
