BELTON (July 25, 2013)—Main Street and Central Avenue in downtown Belton were blocked Thursday morning after a caller reported a bomb at the Bell County Courthouse.

Bell County Sheriff’s Lt. Donnie Adams said a caller reported a bomb had been placed in a courtroom on the fourth floor of the building and gave a specific time that it was to detonate.

The courthouse was evacuated and shut down until after the time specified in the threat and Central and Main were closed in the area of the historic building.

Streets were reopened and the evacuation ended after a search of the building failed to turn up any suspicious devices, Adams said.
