KILLEEN (October 18, 2013)—A Killeen man was dead and his brother was detained after a shooting Thursday evening at a residence.
Police identified the victim late Friday afternoon as Clifton Ellis Young, Sr., 51, of Killeen.
Killeen police were sent at around 7:15 p.m. to a home in the 1600 block of Linda Lane after a caller reported a man had been shot, Tina Amerson, a public affairs specialist with the Killeen Police Department said.
When officers arrived they found Young with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Amerson said.
Bell County Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin ordered an autopsy.
Police scene said a preliminary investigation revealed that Young and his brother were involved in an argument that escalated to a physical confrontation and ended in gunfire.
A 55-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Killeen City Jail, but later was released pending further investigation.
His name was not released.
