WACO (November 21, 2013) Two people were injured Thursday morning in an accident on Interstate 35 near Baylor after at least 11 vehicles were involved in a traffic crash.

One woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and another person was taken by private car, a police officer at the scene said.

The severity of the injuries was not immediately known.

An officer said the crash involved an 18-wheeler but the driver apparently left the scene before police arrived.

Northbound traffic was being restricted to only one lane for a time while crews cleared the roadway of debris.

It was not immediately known how the accident happened.

Crews were working at the 334-B exit, which is just south of 8th Street.

Traffic was backed up to the New Road overpass but was beginning to move at a more regular pace by 9 a.m.
