WACO (December 21, 2012)--A vacant home was destroyed Thursday night in a raging fire.
Crews were called out just before 7 p.m. to the 900 block of North 17th Street in Waco where the first crews on the scene reported a two-story house fully engulfed in flame.
Waco fire Capt. Shon Cavett said at mid-morning Friday some smoldering debris re-ignited and a fire company was sent back to the scene, along with a backhoe, to clear the debris and extinguish the rubble.
Cavett could not say Friday if there were any utilities turned on at the home.
Fire marshals were investigating to try to determine the cause of the fire.
Flames from the initial fire began to spread to another vacant home next door but were quickly extinguished.
There were two other homes in the area that were evacuated while crews tried to get the fire under control.
Nobody was hurt.
