KILLEEN (April 8, 2013)--Killeen Police are investigating after a car crashed into an apartment complex early Monday morning.
The car crashed into the building on Lake Road in Killeen just after 3:00 a.m. Monday.
Killeen Police report they were originally dispatched to the 2000 block of Coach Drive, in response to reports that a woman was breaking windows at a home.
As officers arrived, the woman ran to a white Chevy Malibu, jumped in and sped off.
Officers were unable to stop her.
The woman failed to stop at the intersection of Lake Road and Shoemaker Drive and the car crashed into the apartment building on Lake Road.
The front of the car burst into flames and one of the apartment units caught fire.
The woman was pinned inside the car, but officers were able to remove her before the fire spread.
She was transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple with a broken ankle.
The occupants of the apartment building were not injured.
Sixteen residents were displaced.
The American Red Cross was assisting them.
The name of the driver has not been released.
No charges have been filed.
