TEMPLE (August 7, 2012)-A Temple man was in the Bell County Jail Tuesday after he was arrested Monday in connection with an attack on a Temple police officer.
Charges were pending Tuesday again Joaquin Perez Soria, 55.
Temple police Sgt. Brad Hunt said at around 2 p.m. Monday officers were sent to the Pecan Place Apartments, at 602 North 4th Street, in response to a report of a disturbance in progress.
When officers arrived they found two men outside the apartment building, one of whom reported that the other had assaulted him, appeared to be intoxicated, and refused to leave the property.
The allegedly intoxicated man was arrested and handcuffed, but then began kicking an officer in the knee.
Officers quickly brought the man under control and he was taken by ambulance to Scott & White Hospital for treatment of an injury he sustained in the fight with police.
He was taken to the Bell County Jail after he was treated.
An ambulance was called for the injured police officer, as well, but the officer chose to drive to Scott & White on his own to be treated for an injured knee.
