OAKWOOD (April 1, 2013)--Leon County sheriff's deputies were trying Monday to identify a man who broke into a home and beat an elderly woman.
Leon County Sheriff Kevin Ellis said the victim was released from a Madisonville hospital Saturday afternoon and was staying with relatives while she recovered.
Ellis said someone broke into the 74-year-old woman's home at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday and began beating her in the face while she slept.
The woman was able to fight back and eventually her attacker ran off.
Ellis said the only description that the woman was able to provide is that her attacker was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the attack to call the Leon County Sheriff's Office at 903-536-2749.
